Treaty of Waitangi
Our class talked about the Treaty of Waitangi - why it was signed, when it was signed and where it was signed.

Waitangi Day is a day where New Zealanders remember the signing of this important treaty.

We read The Tree House Treaty by Wiremu Grace.
This story is about new children moving into the neighbourhood. They decided to build a tree house together in a big old pohutakawa tree.
Everyone loved it but it got too crowded and they started to argue.
They wrote up some rules so everyone could use it fairly and happily.

Room 4 children decided to make up our own class treaty.

We signed our classroom treaty and  agreed to the rules so we can learn and play together in Room 4. Here is our Treaty ...

A big WELCOME to Room 4

It was great to meet all the children and start our learning journey for 2018.
We are so lucky we have an air conditioner to help us manage the heat. The children have also enjoyed cooling off in the swimming pool each day.

During our first week, the children are getting to know each other by working and playing together.

This blog is a great way for the children to share their learning, thinking and experiences.
